Raluca
Chifane-Wagenhäuser was born in Brashov and was raised in Bucharest,
Romania. She was educated at the Dinu-Lipatti Lyceum in the great
cultural traditions of her country.
At the
age of 11, she won the first prize at the international competition for
pianists in Stresa, Italy, and later won several other prizes at
various youth competitions.
She has studied
at the University of Music in Bucharest and at the Musikhochschule in
Trossingen, Germany. In 1994 she received a full scholarship from the
state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
Critics
have likened Raluca
Chifane-Wagenhäuser to her great predecessor Dinu Lipatti
for her combination of brilliant technique and artistic maturity. She
has performed all over Europe on stages in Romania, Italy, Great
Britain and Germany.
The
way she utilizes colours and articulation in her interpretation of
different composers makes her a truly unique artist. She brings to
life the intentions of the composers and projects an authentic voice.
Her
recordings cover a diverse repertoire which includes Bach, Mozart,
Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Enescu. She has also made live recordings
for radio and television.
